Former MGH Medical Assistant Arrested & Found Guilty of Assault
In January 2023, one patient went to MGH complaining of shoulder and leg pain. He was subjected to an unauthorized rectal exam, and only later realized what had occurred was sexual assault.
After this patient reported the incident to the police, Damien Knighton was arrested later that month. This led other survivors to come forward with their stories. Knighton pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
In March 2025, a jury found Damien Knighton guilty on six counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14. Sentencing is scheduled for March 14.
