The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, have issued a nationwide voluntary recall of certain lots of Children's and Infant's Tylenol liquid products because the raw material used to manufacture the finished product may have been contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) bacteria. According to the manufacturer, its analysis of the finished product did not reveal any bacterial contamination. However, over 20 different Children's and Infant's liquid Tylenol products manufactured between April 2008 and June 2008 were recalled as a precaution. The recall does not apply to Children's Tylenol Meltaways and Junior Strength Tylenol Meltaways.
The lot numbers and product description of the affected products are listed below. Consumers can find the lot numbers on the bottom of the box containing the liquid product and also on the sticker that surrounds the product bottle.
